Hello!
Dima from System Design Meetup here. I’ll keep it brief.
Hope you’re enjoying our events so far. I sure am!
My ambitious plans for the next year — modulo other important things to do, and keeping in mind stuff we do has to be fun, otherwise there’s no point — include growing the meetup.
Among the things I am considering are to look for someone, likely different people, who could help me with:
Cutting & editing the videos.
Add an intro screen and the end screen.
Embed links to other videos in what we publish.
See if it’s worth investing into post-processing, both audio and video.
Begin creating shorter clips from what we have recorded so far.
Publishing our episodes properly.
Marketing, from social media / friends, to Facebook ads.
Maybe brand new episodes as premiers as they are released.
Try streaming live events, with some Q&A / audience questions.
And some landing page with a list of episodes won’t hurt.
And overall administrivia.
We started with a Google Form, but it doesn’t get enough TLC from me.
I can manage the calendar, but would love some help here.
MailChimp, Substack, and Patreon would likely require attention too.
We’d need to collect filming consents for real some time soon.
And a logo I’ve ordered for $10 on Fiverrr a while back needs an upgrade.
Well, some things are best to begin right away — why wait until 2022? So here we are with this Substack.
For starters, I’ve just merged the lists of emails you guys left, in the Google Form and in Slack. If you’d rather not be on this Substack, please accept my sincere apologies and unsubscribe. Otherwise — welcome, and off we go.
Oh, if you’re new to the System Design Meetup, here is the YouTube channel, this link should get you to our Slack, and this link is where I generally ask for a “yes” for you guys to appear in an episode to be released if you’re interested.
Happy holidays, and looking forward to 2022!
